718 Cayman vs. S5: Performance

  • Porsche 718 Cayman – The 718 Cayman is offered in three trims: Base, S, and GTS. You have a choice of two engines: a 300-hp 2.0L turbo 4-cylinder and a 350- to 365-hp 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder. The base model is offered with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed PDK transmission and reaches a top track speed of 177 mph.
  • Audi S5 – While the 718 Cayman is available with a variety of engines, the 2019 S5 is powered only by a 349-hp 3.0L turbo V6 engine. It comes standard with an 8-speed automatic. At the base level, the Audi S5 reaches a top track speed of 155 mph, making it much slower than the 718 Cayman Base.

718 Cayman vs. S5: MPG Ratings

It’s not always possible for powerful sports cars to offer great mpg ratings. Fortunately, the 718 Cayman and S5 were engineered to give drivers a unique blend of power and efficiency. With its base engine and optional PDK, the 718 Cayman earns 22 mpg city/29 mpg highway. Maximum fuel economy numbers for the 2019 Audi S5 come in at 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway. The 718 Cayman is more economical in the city, while the Audi S5 is more economical on the highway.


718 Cayman vs. S5: Advanced Braking

Standard safety features on the 718 Cayman and 2019 Audi S5 include antilock brakes, airbags, and stability and traction control. The Porsche 718 Cayman also features optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB). This is system is tried-and-tested in motorsports and is comprised of 350-mm cross-drilled ceramic brake discs for greater stopping power. It also includes yellow-painted, six-piston monobloc aluminum fixed brake calipers on the front axle, plus four-piston calipers to the rear. You won’t find a similar system on the Audi S5.
