Porsche 70th Anniversary: Top 7 Cars of the Past 70 Years
This year marks a milestone birthday for Porsche. June 8 will mark 70 years since the first vehicle to bear the Porsche name, the 356 “No.1 Roadster, received its street certification in 1948! To celebrate, Porsche Cars North America and its dealers, including Porsche Fremont, is hosting a “Sportscar Together Day!” Every Porsche regardless of the form, age, or quantity of doors, is a sports car. And a sports car is more than a typical car. Its spirit is built on shared experiences and memories: accelerating together, cornering together, and laughing together. Moments, so valuable and exciting that you want to share them with others. Moments that fascinate and last a lifetime. Let’s take a look back at the seven most iconic models from the past seven decades, chosen by Porsche!
Can you guess at least one?
Without completely spoiling the video, we do have to admit that there were a couple cars that definitely stood out to us including the Porsche 917 K. The reason? The Porsche 917 K scored its first overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970 and again in 1971!
Then we have the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar, that aside from its astonishing good looks, is also quite a remarkable car with the ability to go 0-60 mph in in just 2.5 seconds. It was the first true production car to lap the Nurburgring in less than seven minutes and one of the first hypercars to utilize hybrid technology for more performance.
